• showfusers - shows ps output for processes attached to a mount point.
  Example:

    [root] # showfusers /home

• log_suck - prints out simple stats about web hits.

• homepages.cgi - Generates pretty HTML output with links for everyone with a homepage on the local system.

• nslookup - an exercise in doing hostname lookups in Perl. Returns the same information that nslookup(1) does.
  Example:

    IP: 127.0.0.1
    

• passwd-check.c - check a user's password without logging in.
  Example:

    [root] # passwd-check bobo 12test34
    Does not match.
    [root] # passwd-check bobo 34test12
    Matches.
    

• md5sum-check - checks a list of files and their md5sums.
  
• todaylog - dumps all of today's the logs into mail.
  

• hw_get.c - simple program to get the hardware address of an ethernet device under Linux.
  Example:

    00:00:c0:6c:e3:87
    

• nssearch - returns all the names of all registered machines in a given class C network by looking up each machine individually.
  Example:

    [c-cook] > nssearch 128.174.5

• forky.c - fork bomb your machine with cmdline factorial children (defaults to 500).
  Example:

• intel21hole.asm - the Intel assembly to find DOS's original INT 21 handler for by-passing Int 21 chained TSRs.

• tcpping - connect to a remote machine's echo port and send short lines of text every once in a while.
  Example:

    [c-cook] > tcpping -v localhost.cso.uiuc.edu
    Creating socket to localhost.cso.uiuc.edu:7...
    tcpping: Pinging localhost.cso.uiuc.edu

• snmpbang - uses "snmpget" to scan a class C network for system Descriptions.
  Example:

• secho - runs a socket listener on a given port and echos the data received.
  Example:

    [c-cook] > secho 8888 &

• break_line and unbreak_line - for breaking lines of text into one-word-a-line streams and back.
  Example:

    [c-cook] > echo remove the word cow | break_line | grep -v cow | unbreak_line
    remove the word
    

• noMs - filter to remove all the ^M's from STDIN

• redit - does a "co -l", edit, and "ci -u"
• ezw - for parsing 'w' output to weed out idle folks.
  Example:

    [cook] $ ezw

• lock - for locking your terminal and walking away.

• mmm.c - randomly pick a given number of words from the dictionary and print them.
  Example:

• Idle - plays with Perl's $0 and makes a spinning cursor
  Example:

• elite - filters characters into Elite Speak. Best used in Ytalk. :)
  Example:

• rot13 - ever need to filter your text through a rot13 filter? Here it is.

• syslogit.c - pipes STDIN to the syslog facility
  Example:
