Tucker's Timeline
2002-10-30: Birth!
2002-12-17: We drive to California.
2002-12-18: Pick up Tucker and drive home.
2002-12-20: Vet says "excellent health". 13.25 LBS
2002-12-22: Seems to know his name.
2002-12-24: Starts looking up at our faces instead of at our
shoes.
2002-12-26: 15.25 LBS
2002-12-29: Seems to know "come" and almost "sit".
2003-01-14: 22.60 LBS
2003-01-15: Started clicker training.
2003-01-21: Spontaneously put toy back in his toy box before getting a
new one.
2003-01-29: Has "sit" and "lie down" down pat. Also knows "come", but
is still selective about it.
2003-02-04: Has "drop it" learned, working on "leave it".
2003-02-06: 37.20 LBS
2003-02-11: Can finally make it up onto the couch - truly a sign of Big
Boy-ness.
2003-02-16: Starts working with a Gentle Leader(fabulous).
He's sensitive to nylon, though, so we have to cover the muzzle
portion of it with moleskin so he won't itch.
2003-02-17: Begins working on "roll over" (which will one day become
"bang!")
2003-02-18: Graduated
Puppy Kindergarten!
2003-02-25: Learns the hard way that lawn mushrooms are a danger, not a
delicacy. 41.80 LBS
2003-03-05: Ring bell for service: successfully rings string of bells
hanging from back door when he'd like to go outside to relieve
himself (translation: our first potty-training success!)
2003-03-14: 51.4 LBS
2003-04-03: 60.8 LBS
2003-04-05: Starts Beginning Obedience class
2003-04-15: 64.2 LBS
2003-05-03: Graduated
Basic Obedience!
2003-05-10: 73.6 LBS
2003-05-30: 86.2 LBS
2003-07-03: He's going through a really pushy teenager phase, so we're
being very vigilant with our dominance exerices (see Patricia
McConnell's "How To Be the Leader of the Pack...").
2003-07-05: 94.4 LBS
2003-07-12: Starts Intermediate Obedience class.
2003-07-27: Looks like his growth is slowing way down - 96.6 LBS
2003-08-07: Tucker is now an X-Man (*sniktsnikt*). 99.2 LBS
2003-08-23: Graduated
Intermediate Obedience!
2003-10-04: Tucker's developed some itchy skin issues. The vet suspects
food allergies, so we're trying him on an allergy diet based on
duck and potatoes, and we'll see how that goes.
2003-10-26: Tucker acts as Best Dog at our wedding. Although he
does not drink too much and make off-color toasts, he does
attempt to dig to China during the vows and is removed.
2003-10-30: Happy Birthday, Tucker! His allergy diet not only didn't
help his itchiness, but also made him cranky and obnoxious. He
obviously isn't getting the proper nutrition from it, so we've gone
back to his regular food, Flint River
Ranch.
2003-11-04: Within half a day back on his regular food, Tucker is back
to his same goofy and affectionate self.
2003-11-25: Tucker remains the Belle of Cooper Mountain
Kennels, where he's boarded when we travel. Pretty ladies
that play with him 3 times a day and let him jump all over the
place and don't persist with this irritating obedience nonsense
- he's in hog heaven. We can't reccommend this place highly
enough!
2003-12-04: 108.3 lbs.
2004-01-01: Begins work on "shake", which truth be told he already knows
- it's just a matter of having him do it when WE want.
